starting off in the morning from our hotel
But it was overcast and chilly. That can cut the fun of a plan in half, can't it?
Also, I don't think any of us were really ready to ride any great distance. The ride was out and back. I think we went between 35-40 miles. The wind was against us in the end, the sun was behind the clouds, and we were cold and tired. Maybe others remember a happier experience, but this ride felt bleak to me.
The wine festival was mobbed. I naively expected we'd meander from winery to winery and hear about the wines, sip and talk, learn a few things. Catch a little buzz. I'm so old, aren't I?
You had to fight your way to the folks dispensing, snag a shot and get out or you'd get run down. Many of the stations were in shops making them even more inaccessible. I learned nothing about wine and really just wanted to sit down to rest my aching legs!
So yeah, this ride wasn't a fave. I'll chalk it up to the likes of the NYC boroughs ride which also had its drawbacks.
yeah. i don't think they meant bicycles, but that's ok, we took it as a friendly omen anyway.
we were freezing. lisa gave us all lemon luna bars which were like heaven. I was sooo hungry and there was nothing around!
i must have take this from the car. right?
