So proud of my girls for starting new events this year which I will look forward to joining in coming years! Yay- YOU! Xie Xie for the soul filled trip!

Bikes, kayaks, & drinks
Perfect day in D.C.!
Katie, Lisa and Deb W. headed out (late) from CCH and met Deb L. on the W&OD in Falls Church. Debbie L. did us the great favor of having a blow out right next to a bike shop AND the Itialian Store. So what better solution to a delay than to eat cannolies while we wait!
We also bought a spectacular picnic: mozzarella, swiss, salami (the spicy one!), 4 expensive artichokes, a big fat loaf of italian bread, and olives. Oh, and a bottle of wine (for just a nip). We enjoyed it all while luxuriating on the banks of the Potomac. Abe Lincoln joined us from afar.
Full and (for me) a little buzzed (did i have more than my fair share of wine?), we got back on our bikes and headed into town where we rented Kayaks at Jack's totally cute Boat House. We managed a trip around Roosevelt Island in our alotted hour and missed the coming storm.
A quick stop at Deb & Steve L's borrowed abode for a beer (did we drink more than we biked?) and we headed home at which time a horrifying discovery was made: my big butt was shining through my favorite but threadbare bike shorts. This was traumatic for poor Katie who had to observe said butt, but also traumatic for poor me because I'm about as attached to these shorts as I was to my blanky as a child. No future bike ride will ever be the same.
A 40 mile day. Not too shabby for a crew a bit out of practice.
So...after all that "biking" we had to refuel on an extravagant Indian dinner during which Katie coached us for the second time that day to "finish the meal!"
We topped the night off with a questionably fizzy bottle of wine. Was it sparkly or just a bit over-fermented? We never really decided.
Lisa put the Debs up for the night in the Whetzel Inn and even cooked us eggs in the a.m. Thanks Lisa!
Great day!
We will miss Debbie when she ventures back to China, but rumor has she'll return for future trips! Can't wait Deb!

Happy 40th Deidre!
Deidre doesn't get fancy waterfront dining. She gets triple torture at her (and Lisa and Katie's) first triathalon out in Reston. While they swam, biked and ran their way to glory, Deb W. (who'd been recovering from a car accident that winter/spring so couldn't compete) rode out to meet them at the finish. She got tangled in one of the the transfer points for the race along the way--dork.
We celebrated Deidre's bday at a cute french bistro afterward.
The beginning of a new chapter? Who knows, it's rumored that Lisa posted something about another triathalon with a 750 meter continuous lake swim on facebook but there were no known responses. Where did everybody go?

Happy 40th Birthday Katie!
Perfect day to get back on our bikes. Beautiful weather, easy ride to D.C. via w&od thru shirlington, to GW pkway, over 14th street bridge, and around Hanes Point. Spoiled ourselves with fancy brunch at Sequoia's. We drank sunset something or other's way too quickly, caught a little buzz, ate too much and laughed. And laughed. And laughed.
Then we DROVE home. A first!
