Katie, Chris, Lisa, Deb L., and I all met at Katie's and set out for the W&OD. We met up with Deidre and Christian in the not-so-pre-designated spot in Falls Church where Deidre decided she'd had enough of riding uphill and into the wind and dismounted her bike, tossed it into the grass, and flopped down on a park bench to wait. Christian, who is training for a sprint triathlon, good-naturedly complied.
From there, it was mostly downhill to the Key Bridge where we crossed into the city. The crosswind on the bridge was actually dangerous. Close to the other side, I was hit by a gust that nearly pushed my bike into the barrier and filled my eye and ear with dirt from the construction. Yuck!

We all made it to Georgetown without incident--even if there was a parting of ways once we hit M Street. Eventually, everyone ended up at the restaurant!
Dinner was extravagant. Lisa and I had the sea bass, Katie and Chris ordered a seafood tower. Deidre and Chris ordered some pretty amazing quacamole. The Lanes were opposite me at the table so I'm not sure what they had. What else was there? Wine. Really nice wine for a really nice night. Oh, and desert. We all said we weren't having any, but somehow we all did. Luscious moussy chocolaty things appeared on the table from I don't know where.

Word is we'll be returning again in six years to celebrate Katie's 52nd. So tune in for 2024!
